About Opportunity Marketing
Opportunity Marketing was set up by Ian Kirk in 2008 with a mission to help SME business owners grow their businesses and fulfil their potential through a better understanding of marketing.
As the model evolved it started to become really process driven, which is when demand started outstripping supply. Rather than recruit a team, Ian decided to go down the franchising route and spent 6 years operating as a franchise model – helping aspiring consultants to set up on their own.
When the events of 2020 unfolded, Ian decided that the franchise model was no longer the most viable way to help as many people as possible. In response he set about creating a new model which required far lower investment.
This course is the latest evolution which uses the same methodology, tools and templates as the franchise model did, and includes them within a price at the fraction of the previous franchise cost. This enables you to create your own marketing consultancy business, trading under your own brand, but with proven processes, methodology and packages that work.
Becoming an Associate Consultant
Opportunity Marketing is a well-established and well-respected brand within the UK for strategic marketing consulting services. To benefit from association with the brand there is the opportunity, in addition to the online course, to become an associate consultant of Opportunity Marketing.
This enables you to be listed on the website as an associate consultant (with a link back to your own website) and potentially invited to work on future centrally generated projects.
You don’t need to do this alone
The added benefit of becoming an associate is that there is an additional level of post course support to help you get going through those early months. For a minimum of 6-months following course completion there will be a mentoring programme to support you in getting established and start earning an income.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is this course aimed at?
This course has been designed for marketing professionals who are considering taking the leap into becoming a self-employed marketing consultant. Typically delegates of the course would have a minimum of 5 years marketing experience at marketing manager level or above.
Do I need to have any formal marketing qualifications?
No. The suggested prerequisite of 5 years commercial experience in marketing is more important than a formal marketing qualification. You do need to have a good grasp of marketing. If you want to chat through whether you have enough experience, please get in touch to arrange a call.
Is this course only suitable for those who want a similar business model to Opportunity Marketing?
No. This course is suitable for anyone who wants to set up their own marketing consulting business. Included within the course at no extra cost are all of the tools, methodologies and templates that Opportunity Marketing uses in downloadable format. However, you can use these as little or as much as you like, alongside your own materials. The only caveat is that if you want to go for the associate consultant level – you must follow Opportunity Marketing’s methodology when delivering strategy work.
How long does the course take?
There are 10 modules and in total there is around 12 hours of training to watch. However, you have instant access to the whole course so can run through it at your own pace. We strongly recommend you work through each module in sequence and do the tasks and work before progressing to the next. Obviously, everybody works at their own pace but we would expect it to take 7-10 days to work through the course in its entirety. You have access to the course for 12 months so you can revisit any modules at any time during your first year.
What if I have questions or need additional support?
We’re here to help! If you have any questions or need additional support as you work through the course, our team is available to provide guidance and assistance.
The associate level version also includes a 6-month mentoring programme, so if you feel you need that personal accountability to embed the learning then we would recommend that level.
What if I have second thoughts about setting up on my own when I see what is involved?
Module 1 provides a “warts and all” insight what it is like running your own consultancy. If after completing module 1 you decided that actually working for yourself isn’t for you, then we will reimburse you 80% of the initial fee paid. The request must be made within one month of the course activation and is only valid if you have not progressed to module 2. You can also get in touch to set up a video meeting if you want to discuss it one to one before deciding.
What if I don’t like the tools, templates and methodology?
This training course is how to set up as a marketing consultant to give you the best chance of success – irrespective of which methodology you use. The tools and templates are included free of charge. You don’t have to use them. If, however, you would like to see some of them before committing to the course we can arrange a zoom call and screen share to walk you through some of the tools we use.
Could I speak to someone before committing to the associate level course?
Yes. We actually encourage it. You can only buy the standard course online, so if you would like to learn more about becoming an associate, we recommend getting in touch to set up a video call. We appreciate that this is a big decision.
If I decide to become an associate, do I trade as Opportunity Marketing?
No. You trade under your own brand name. We just insist that any centrally generated strategy leads that you follow the Opportunity Marketing methodology.
